Shopify SEO and the problems the platform creates for you: duplicate product URLs, thin collection pages, and why a store can be indexed and still invisible. Apps that quietly cost you speed belong on that list too. Shopify solves a great deal and hands you a specific set of problems back, and almost none of them are the ones generic SEO advice is written about. The posts here separate the two failure modes that get confused constantly — Google does not have your pages at all, or Google has them and ranks other pages above them. The second is far more common and far slower to fix, and most material on the subject addresses only the first. There is also a platform comparison for anyone weighing a migration, which concludes that the platform matters less than people expect and is specific about the ways it does matter. Figures quoted here come from Search Console on accounts named on the results page, including one where average position moved from about 18 to 7 over roughly ten months.
Most Shopify SEO audits hand you a list. The useful version sorts every finding by who can fix it: you in the admin, a theme developer, an app, or nobody, because Shopify locks it. Here is that sort, and what mine cost.
Every local SEO audit checklist tells you to check your rankings. None of them says that a search from your own office is the one search that cannot tell you anything. Here is the audit written for businesses that drive to the customer.
Most pages on this price tie cost to page count and stop there. Platform decides where a site’s technical debt actually lives, and a quote that ignores it is guessing at the scope.
Most pages selling an ‘ecommerce SEO audit’ never say what makes it ecommerce-specific. Here is what actually has to be checked that a generic audit tool misses, and what mine costs.
Every comparison lists lower transaction fees as a Plus advantage and never says how much revenue it takes before that saving is worth anything. It’s more than most stores asking this question are doing, which means the real reason to upgrade is almost never the fees.
Three guides ranking for this keyword list four models and hedge on which one to pick. None explains why performance-based pricing — the one that sounds most aligned with your interests — mostly pays an agency to find keywords that were going to rank anyway.
Most pages on this topic give you a range for a vague business and stop there. Here is what I actually charge, what changes between tiers, and the one thing to check on the PDF before you pay anyone for an audit.
Every “best SEO apps for Shopify” listicle sells meta tag editors and alt text tools as headline features. Both are free fields in the Shopify admin. Here is what’s actually native, and the two or three app categories that earn a subscription anyway.
Every guide tells you speed affects conversion and hands you a generic industry stat. Here is how to turn that into a number for your store, and the reason it costs more if you also run ads.
Every page answering this question lists the benefits of SEO and skips the part that decides anything: whether it is worth it for you, right now, at your revenue. Here is a number instead of a list.
